Expands emergency conservation payments for farms and forests
Farmers and owners of private forest land could get advance payments for disaster repairs, and more wildfire damage would qualify for help.
- Advance payments can cover 75% of replacing or rehabilitating farmland or structures, and 50% of repairs
- Current law limits advances to 25% for repairing or replacing fencing
- Wildfire damage qualifies if the fire was not natural but spread by natural causes, including federal-start fires
- Private forest owners can get advances up to 75% of emergency measure costs, to be used within 180 days
