Requires food allergy training for school meal staff
Requires people who run school meal programs to be trained on spotting and responding to food allergies, and adds food allergy materials for families in a food aid program.
- Training must cover preventing, spotting and responding to allergic reactions, including giving epinephrine
- Would cover avoiding cross-contact and choosing substitute foods for children with allergies
- Training must be offered in other languages and in formats for people with disabilities
- Up to $1,000,000 a year from 2027 through 2031, plus $1,000,000 in 2027 for food allergy nutrition materials
