Limits import taxes on school supplies

Limits import taxes on school supplies for students, families and schools, keeping them no higher than January 19, 2025 levels, with some exceptions.

• Covers backpacks, notebooks, pencils, crayons, pens, markers, keyboards and calendars
• Also applies to classroom items the Commerce Department designates, with input from Education
• The Commerce Department would report to Congress every 180 days on exempt items
• Congress could vote to reject a classroom item the department designates
