Expands Medicaid coverage for mental health crisis care

Lets states use Medicaid money for local crisis call centers and crisis facilities, and raises funding for a mental health crisis response pilot program to $100 million a year.

• States can get Medicaid funds for mobile crisis teams, lifeline call centers, and crisis stabilization facilities
• The federal government pays 85 percent of the cost of these services
• Removes the five-year limit on how long states can offer this option
• Raises yearly funding for the mental health crisis response partnership pilot to $100 million from 2027 through 2029
