Allows rural broadband aid for any technology type
Rural broadband funding requests can no longer be rejected or ranked lower based on the kind of technology used, such as satellites, as long as speed minimums are met.
- Projects must provide at least 100 Mbps download and 20 Mbps upload speeds
- Requests cannot be denied or given lower priority based on the technology used, including satellites in low-Earth orbit
- The Agriculture Department must publicly report locations served and technology used within 30 days of each award
- Final rules to carry out the change are due within 180 days
