Eases rules and raises pay for rural emergency hospitals
Lets more small hospitals become rural emergency hospitals, pays them 5 percent more for lab tests, and adds Medicaid coverage plus psychiatric, rehabilitation and obstetric units.
- Counts facilities as hospitals at any point since 2015, not just one date, to qualify
- Pays rural emergency hospitals 5 percent more for diagnostic lab tests starting in 2027
- Orders rules within a year to waive standards for similar facilities that want to convert
- Adds psychiatric, rehabilitation and obstetric units; allows skilled nursing care and Medicaid payment
