Phases in a 32-hour standard workweek
Lowers the standard workweek from 40 hours to 32 hours over about three years, with overtime pay required after 32 hours in a week.
- The standard workweek would drop from 40 hours to 38, then 36, 34, and 32 over three years
- Hours past 32 in a week would be paid at least 1.5 times the regular rate
- Workdays longer than 8 hours would be paid 1.5 times; over 12 hours, double
- Employers could not cut pay or benefits because of the change
