Makes Medicaid pay for patient navigator services
Adds patient navigator services to Medicaid, so states would pay health and community groups for staff who help people find and use care.
- States would pay groups that employ patient navigators, such as health or community organizations
- Navigators would need a nursing, social work or health degree, or a state license or certification
- A training program approved by the federal health secretary would also count, but only for three years
- Payment starts the first day of the first calendar year after the bill becomes law
