Requires the IRS or an approved checker to confirm an electronic filing identification number is active and authorized before a tax return or other document can be filed electronically.
- Number must be checked before the first electronic filing and again at times the IRS sets
- IRS must create a program to check these numbers in real time
- Applies to federal tax returns and other documents filed electronically
