Covers community health worker services in Medicare and Medicaid
Starting in 2027, Medicare would pay for services from community health workers, and states could choose to cover them in Medicaid with a higher federal match.
- Medicare Part B would cover community health services from community health agencies starting January 1, 2027
- Medicare would pay the full lesser of the charge or a fee schedule amount and waive the deductible
- States could choose to cover community health worker, promotora, or community health representative services in Medicaid
- Federal Medicaid payments for those services would increase by 6 percentage points
