Bans sloth imports except for research and zoos
Makes it illegal to import any sloth species, with exceptions for dead specimens used in research and for accredited zoos and aquariums breeding them.
- Covers all sloth species; civil fines up to $20,000 for each violation
- Knowingly violating the ban can bring a criminal fine up to $100,000
- Zoos and aquariums accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums may import sloths for breeding
- Sloths imported illegally can be seized and forfeited to the United States
