H.R. 10894
Blocks ICE from getting disaster victims' personal data
Bars the immigration enforcement agency from using federal money to obtain personal information that non-governmental groups collected from people after a natural disaster, unless a judge issues a warrant.
- Covers names, home addresses, birth dates, Social Security numbers and immigration numbers
- Groups may share the information only if the agency gets a court warrant
- Applies to data gathered after hurricanes, floods, fires, earthquakes and similar events
- Limits how the head of the immigration agency may spend federal funds
