Requires care for children born alive after abortion
Requires health care workers to give a child born alive after an abortion the same care as any other child at the same stage, to send the child to a hospital, and to report failures to police.
- Health care workers present must give the same care as for any other child at the same stage
- The child must be admitted to a hospital right away
- Failing to give that care or to report a failure carries a fine, up to five years in prison, or both
- The mother cannot be prosecuted and may sue a health care worker for violations
