Lets utilities clear trees near power lines on federal land
Allows the Forest Service and the Bureau of Land Management to let electric utilities cut and sell trees near power lines on their lands without a separate timber sale.
- Permission can be added to special use permits or easements held by electric utilities
- Cutting must follow the area's land and resource management plan and other environmental laws
- If a utility sells the removed wood, it must give the government the proceeds minus transportation costs
