Requires parental consent for school gender changes
Public elementary and middle schools that receive certain federal education money would need a parent's permission before changing a student's gender listing, pronouns, name, or sex-based facilities.
- Applies to public elementary schools and schools with only grades 5 through 8
- Covers gender markers, pronouns, and preferred name on school forms
- Also covers sex-based accommodations, including locker rooms and bathrooms
- Required as a condition of receiving certain federal education funds
