Limits who can get a homebuyer's credit report
Bars credit reporting agencies from giving a homebuyer's credit report to most third parties unless the buyer agrees or the company already handles their mortgage.
- A third party usually needs the buyer's consent before getting their credit report
- Exception for companies that made or service the buyer's mortgage or have a current banking relationship
- Takes effect 180 days after it becomes law
- The Government Accountability Office must study marketing offers sent by text message
