Raises prison terms and sets minimum sentences for people who enter the United States without permission, especially after removal or with past felony convictions.
- Sets a 5-year mandatory minimum and allows life in prison for improper entry followed by a felony conviction
- Raises the maximum for repeated improper entry from 2 years to 5 years
- Raises the maximum for entering after removal from 2 years to 10 years, or 15 years with three or more misdemeanors
- Sets a 10-year mandatory minimum and allows life in prison for certain prior felony or repeated reentry convictions
