Speeds up environmental reviews for gas pipelines
Makes the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission the only lead agency for environmental reviews of natural gas pipelines and liquefied natural gas terminals, and removes a state water quality permit requirement.
- The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission would lead reviews, and other agencies would follow its review scope
- Project approval would be due no more than 90 days after the environmental review ends
- Applicants would not need a state water quality certification under the federal clean water law
- Federal and state agencies would review projects at the same time instead of one after another
