Lowers D.C. age for trying minors as adults to 14

Lowers the minimum age at which minors in the District of Columbia can be tried as adults for certain serious crimes, from 15 or 16 down to 14.

• Applies to charges like murder, armed robbery, first-degree sexual abuse and first-degree burglary
• A separate rule for other felonies, now starting at age 15, would also start at 14
• Currently, people under 18 are tried as juveniles in family court unless they meet the older-age rules
