Speeds up appeals of Interior land decisions
Lets a party appealing an Interior Department decision on public lands or resources ask for a faster ruling, with a six-month deadline once the request is made.
- A party filing an appeal can ask the land appeals board for faster review
- The board must decide within 6 months of the request, but no sooner than 18 months after the appeal was filed
- If the deadline is missed, the Interior decision counts as final
- Courts would then review it without giving weight to the agency's view
