Requires more detail in IRS math error notices
Makes the IRS explain math or clerical errors on tax returns in more detail and tell people how to ask for the related tax charge to be dropped.
- Notices must name the error type and the exact return line it was on
- Notices must show an itemized list of the dollar changes being made
- People could ask to cancel the tax by mail, online, by phone, or in person
- A test program would send some error notices by certified or registered mail
