Orders study on making critical infrastructure products in United States
Directs the Secretary of Commerce to study whether products needed for critical infrastructure can be made in the United States, plus costs, jobs, and possible barriers, and report to Congress.
- The study is due within 1 year after the bill becomes law
- It must identify high-demand products imported because of manufacturing or supply limits in the United States
- It must analyze effects on jobs, product costs, and feasibility in rural areas or industrial parks
- A report is due to Congress within 18 months; a public version must be posted online
