Permanently puts fentanyl-related drugs in the strictest drug class
Places fentanyl-related substances permanently in the strictest drug category, with the same prison terms as offenses involving fentanyl versions of the drug.
- Offenses involving 100 grams or more would carry a 10-year mandatory minimum prison term
- Creates a new, alternative registration process for certain research on these drugs
- Lets one registration cover related research sites and waives some new inspections
- Says Congress agrees with a court ruling that a related drug counts as a fentanyl version
