Raises the money limit for some federal lawsuits
Raises the smallest amount of money a lawsuit between people from different states must involve to go to federal court, from $75,000 to $150,000, and raises it with inflation later.
- The smallest amount in dispute would go from $75,000 to $150,000
- Starting January 1, 2030, the amount would rise every 10 years to match inflation
- Each new amount would be rounded to the nearest $25,000
- A court could make a plaintiff who wins less than the required amount pay costs
