Changes how the EPA handles smoke from prescribed fires in air quality monitoring, sets deadlines for updated rules and state requests, and starts grants to cut wildfire smoke in buildings.
- Prescribed fires, including tribal cultural burning, can count as exceptional events in air quality monitoring
- The EPA must propose updated rules within 270 days and finish them 180 days later
- State requests would be treated as approved if the EPA does not act within one year
- Creates grants covering up to 90% of costs to reduce wildfire smoke in buildings, including schools
