Blocks trade benefits for countries not enforcing environmental laws
Would remove sub-Saharan African countries from a trade benefits program if they do not enforce their environmental laws and meet their international environmental obligations.
- Changes the African Growth and Opportunity Act, which gives trade benefits to some sub-Saharan African countries
- A country would need to effectively enforce its own environmental laws
- A country would also need to fulfill its international environmental obligations
- Countries that do neither would be excluded from the program
