Orders study of fentanyl testing in emergency rooms
Directs the health department to study how often emergency rooms test overdose patients for fentanyl, then issue guidance on whether such testing should be routine.
- Study must be finished within 3 years of the bill becoming law
- It looks at how often, at what cost, and with what benefits and risks emergency rooms test for fentanyl
- Guidance is due within 9 months after the study is done
- Guidance also covers federal resources and what drug tests a hospital's staff should know about
