Ends requirement to file archaeological reports for offshore drilling
Cancels a 2024 rule that made oil and gas companies send an archaeological report with offshore exploration and development plans, bringing back older rules.
- Cancels the ocean energy bureau's rule published September 3, 2024
- Companies with offshore oil and gas leases would no longer file archaeological reports with their plans
- A report lists remains of human life or activity at least 50 years old
- Older rules return, letting a regional director ask for a report if a site may be present
