Honors the life of Dr. Mary Edwards Walker
Recognizes Dr. Mary Edwards Walker, the first woman to serve as an Army surgeon, for her Civil War medical service, her Medal of Honor, and her work for women's rights.
- Became the first female surgeon in the Army in 1864, as assistant surgeon of the Ohio 52nd Infantry
- Served as an unpaid volunteer surgeon at the start of the Civil War; the Army barred women as medical officers
- Received the Medal of Honor for Meritorious Service in 1865 from President Andrew Johnson
- Advocated for women's rights, including dress reform and women's suffrage
