Supports naming July 2025 Sarcoma Awareness Month
The Senate says July 2025 should be National Sarcoma Awareness Month to draw attention to a rare cancer of bones and connective tissue.
- About 17,000 people in the United States are diagnosed with sarcoma each year
- About 7,600 people die from sarcoma each year, and about 50,000 live with it
- Sarcoma is about 15 percent of childhood cancers and 1 percent of adult cancers
- More than 70 subtypes exist; causes are not well understood
