Designates September 19, 2025 as National Concussion Awareness Day
The Senate names September 19, 2025 as a day to raise awareness about concussions and calls for better diagnosis, care and research.
- Up to 3.8 million sports-related concussions happen each year, per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
- About 283,000 children a year go to emergency rooms for sports or play-related brain injuries
- About 5.3 million people live with the long-term effects of a traumatic brain injury
- About 15 percent of high school students reported a sports or play-related concussion in the past year
