Recognizes the 250th birthday of the U.S. Navy
The Senate marks 250 years since the Continental Congress created a navy and thanks the people who have served in it.
- Notes the Continental Congress established a navy on October 13, 1775
- Says the Navy now has more than 290 ships, 3,700 aircraft and 590,000 people
- Thanks Navy sailors, veterans, families and civilian workers for their service
- Reaffirms Senate support for the Navy as a tool of national power
