Marks 40th anniversary of Space Shuttle Atlantis
The Senate notes that 2025 is 40 years since Space Shuttle Atlantis first flew and praises the Kennedy Space Center for its role in Florida and the country.
- Atlantis first launched October 3, 1985, from Kennedy Space Center in Florida
- Atlantis flew 33 missions before the shuttle program ended in 2011
- The visitor center there draws more than 1,500,000 guests a year
- Atlantis is on display at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex
