The Senate recognizes former college football coach Lou Holtz, his 30-plus year coaching career, and his work teaching character and teamwork to student-athletes.
- Coached football at six colleges, finishing with 249 wins, 132 losses and 7 ties
- Was the only coach to lead six programs to bowl games
- Received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2020
- Started the "Play Like A Champion Today" sign tradition at Notre Dame
