Supports March as blood clot awareness month
The Senate supports a March awareness month for deep vein blood clots and the lung blockages they can cause, which affect up to 900,000 people a year.
- Affect as many as 900,000 people in the U.S. each year
- Cause an estimated 60,000 to 100,000 deaths in the U.S. each year
- 1 in 4 people who have a lung clot die without warning
- Add up to $10 billion in extra medical costs each year
