Recognizes 80th anniversary of Fulbright Program

The Senate marks 80 years of the Fulbright student and scholar exchange program and congratulates its past and present grant recipients.

• The program began August 1, 1946, when President Harry Truman signed it into law
• It gives out about 9,000 grants a year and works in more than 160 countries
• More than 450,000 people have taken part, including 63 Nobel Prize winners
• The Senate supports the program's work in foreign policy and national security
